Update: Community Ownership Fund Application Submitted

Weston SOS is pleased to report that we have submitted our full application to the Community Ownership Fund for a capital grant of £250,000 and a revenue grant of £31,000 in time for the deadline on the 11th October 2023:

This marks the culmination of months of effort from the Weston SOS committee to prepare and finalise the business plan and completion of the application form.

We’ve not been alone in this – we’ve been working for the last 4-5 months with a professional advisor assigned to us by the Community Ownership Fund. As part of this package of support we’ve also received a £10,000 pre-application grant which will be used to assist with legal fees and the assessment of our business plan and share offer for the Community Shares Standard Mark assessment. This award independently assesses our business plan and share offer against national best practice for share offers.

The first version of our business plan, which was submitted with our Community Ownership Fund application, can be downloaded/viewed on our Share Offer page.

We’ll share an updated version of our business plan and our formal share offer document once we’ve received the outcome of our Community Shares Standard Mark assessment.

We will now be turning our attention to our Share Offer which will run from 1st November to 13th December. The share offer will be launched with a public village meeting at the Weston-on-the-Green Village Hall on the 6th November at 7:00pm.
